Media personality and host of popular cheating show Uyajola 9/9, Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye, has responded to singer Kelly Khumalo over claims that he was a deadbeat father.
Khumalo, during a podcast interview with musician Thato “L-Tido Madonsela,” shared the challenges of being a single mother raising three children.
She said that the fathers of her children were deadbeats, but excluded the late soccer star Senzo Meyiwa.
She said they were “useless” as they were “not providing” for her children.
“They are all useless, all of them,” Khumalo said. Well, except for one. If he were here, trust me, he would have been a responsible father.”
Maarohanye responded to the online comment in a video to ask Khumalo to stop portraying him as a deadbeat father and allow him into his child’s life.
On Sunday, Jub Jub took to social media to express gratitude to Khumalo for raising their child while he was in prison for murder and driving under the influence of drugs.
Jub Jub said he was ready to co-parent and pleaded with Khumalo to grant him access to his son.
“Kelly, you and I know what court is like. I don’t want to be putting my boy through that. Going to court like his mother and father,” he said.
“You know how many times I’ve tried to get a hold of you to try and get the boy. You know how many times your sister Gumede and your mother have been trying to talk about me meeting the boy, to get the freedom of seeing the boy. I don’t know if you want to hold on to the boy and put him in a bottle so you can control him like AI. Stop making my child AI, it’s not nice, it’s not fair. Stop saying I am a deadbeat dad.”
Jub Jub said he had sent gifts while he was behind bars until Khumalo began sending them back.
Watching his son grow up from afar, and resorting to driving past his school just to catch a glimpse of him, was among the most painful experiences Jub Jub said he had to endure.
“I want my child,” he demanded.
Khumalo has three children with three different fathers: her eldest son, Christian, with Jub Jub; her daughter, Thingo, with the late Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Meyiwa; and her youngest daughter with footballer Mthokozisi Yende.
