India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived at OR Tambo International Airport, a vital moment in South Africa’s G20 Leaders’ Summit, signalling strategic intent to shape global discourse from the global south.

Modi’s arrival on Friday afternoon, as South Africa hosts its first-ever G20 Leaders’ Summit, underscores India’s ambition to lead conversations on inclusive development, climate justice, and digital transformation from the perspective of the global south.

Modi was received by Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni and briefly watched performers in Venda traditional attire (Minwenda).

As Modi steps onto South African soil, the world watches closely. His speeches, bilateral meetings, and policy proposals over the next two days could shape not just the outcome of the G20 but the trajectory of global cooperation in a deeply divided world.
