The Johannesburg High Court on Thursday postponed to March the case against businessman and alleged underworld figure Katiso “KT” Molefe, one of the accused in the 2022 killing of popular musician Oupa Sefoka, known as DJ Sumbody.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the postponement will allow the state to disclose the contents of the police docket and begin pre-trial proceedings.

Molefe made his first appearance in the high court alongside his co-accused, Michael Pule Tau (55), Tiego Floyd Mabisela (45), and Musa Kekana, who face 35 charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murde,r and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The state alleges that Molefe orchestrated the murder together with his co-accused.

Sefoka was shot dead on 20 November 2022 in Woodmead, north of Johannesburg.

According to the NPA, forensic evidence linked the high-calibre rifles used in Sefoka’s killing to several other murders, including those of Hector Buthelezi, also known as DJ Vintos, businessman Don Tindleni and Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart.

Molefe remains on bail, while the three other accused remain in custody.
