The Milan Cortina Olympics ended Sunday with a closing ceremony paying tribute to Italian dance and music inside the ancient Verona Arena, roughly mid-distance between the far-flung mountain, valley, and city venues that made these the most spread-out Winter Games in Olympic history.

Earlier Sunday, the United States beat Canada 2-1 in overtime to win the men’s hockey gold on the final day of the Milan Cortina Olympics. Jack Hughes scored the winning goal just 1:41 into overtime.
The opera characters and Rigoletto say “ciao” and return to the depths of the arena. The closing ceremony of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics is over. The Paralympics begin here in Verona on March 6 and run through the 15th.
Italian singer-songwriter Achille Lauro, a Verona native, performed his iconic song “Incoscienti Giovani.”
The athletes are still dancing to Major Lazer and now they’re helping create a light show, too.
Most of them have bracelets on, flashing white and red, and are waving their hands in the air.
Others are using the flashlight on their phones.
