Speaking at a media briefing at his party headquarters, the EFF’s CIC Julius Malema described the South African Defence Force deployed recently in the DRC as ill-trained and said its members can’t even look after a bunch of cabbages.
Malema said the SANDF should come back with immediate effect and be better trained, better equipped and better funded before they are sent out to fight rebels in that country.
“We support the deployment of the army, but currently, we don’t have the army. Our army can’t look after cabbages .. we just don’t have the army,” he said while accusing the ANC of collapsing the SANDF. “The army has collapsed under the control of (ANC)”.
Malema questioned how criminals were able to get into the country with AK-47 with ease”.
Malema’s utterances come after two South African soldiers were killed and three were wounded in a mortar strike in Goma, DRC.
On load shedding, he emphasised that he will stop load shedding within 6 months when he becomes President of South Africa. Through the proper qualified engineers, load shedding can come to an end, with the current CEO and the one who left .. When in a crisis, we will ask for assistance from people with experience.
“Despite many empty promises, the South African government has not brought forth a dependable electricity plan that will guarantee the supply of electricity to all its citizens,” he said.
As South Africans continue to battle power cuts, the cynicism of ANC MP Sylvia Lucas who said the planned outages were not the end of the world, was not lost to struggling South Africans who responded with outrage at her callousness.
“Load shedding isn’t the end of the world; as soon as you talk about load shedding, there is sabotage; we must look into that. So, president, go ahead with the good work,” said Lucas while praising President Cyril Ramaphosa in Parliament.
Malema blamed the Mogale Municipality for allegedly opposing the EFF’s plans to build a state-of-the- art school meant to ‘prioritise black people’.
He also condemned the suspension of the EFF Members of Parliament. He called the timing of the suspension as deliberate to prevent the EFF leadership from attending the State of the Nation Address to protect the dying ANC and the incompetent President.
“The EFF has picked up that Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa continues to misrepresent the claims that the past 30 years have changed the lives of our people, yet the past 30 years of so-called freedom has brought nothing to most of our people.
“He (Ramaphosa) claims that the governing party has built strong institutions to protect fundamental freedoms and human rights of all people, yet it is the ANC government who massacred 34 mine workers in broad daylight, killed Andries Tatane, and continued to allow students to fall in pit toilets”.
Malema talked about South Africa’s diverse economy whose minerals and agricultural products reach every corner of the world while creating jobs, yet these sectors remain dominated by whites, “and our people are massively unemployed,” he said.
