THE second part of the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, also known as the Zondo Commission, was delivered to The Presidency at the Union Buildings, on Tuesday February 1.
This volume deals with evidence of State capture, corruption and fraud at the State-owned companies of Transnet and Denel.
The commission has until the end of February to submit its full report.
Part Two of the report was delivered to the director-general in The Presidency, Phindile Baleni, by the secretary of the commission, Prof Itumeleng Mosala.
Part One was delivered to President Cyril Ramaphosa by Acting Chief Justice and commission chairperson Judge Raymond Zondo on January 4.
Ramaphosa will submit the full report to Parliament by June 30, with an indication of his intentions with regards to implementation of the commission’s recommendations.
Ramaphosa said: “The handover of the second part of the report of the Commission of Inquiry is another significant step forward in the work we need to do to rid our country of corruption.
“During the course of the past four years the Commission has constructed a disturbing picture of the depth and damage of state capture.
“We should now apply our energies to the Commission’s recommendations and take the necessary steps to make sure we never face this onslaught on public resources and on the fabric of our society.”
