Phala Phala: Dlamini-Zuma is not facing any disciplinary charges – Mabe

Must read

THE ANC has rejected reports that Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is facing disciplinary charges for supporting the adoption of the Section 89 panel which found that President Cyril Ramaphosa may have violated the Constitution.

This comes after a letter signed by acting Secretary-General, Paul Mashatile, made the rounds on social media, saying that Dlamini-Zuma undermined the party’s order when she voted with the opposition.

Parliament established the Section 89 independent panel report to look at whether there was a prima facie case against Ramaphosa after he failed to declare foreign currency and report the matter to the police following a robbery at his Phala Phala farm.

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe told journalists on Friday that no decision was taken to discipline Dlamini-Zuma.

“[The] NEC meeting has decided to refer the matter of ANC members who voted with opposition to the new NEC which will emerge at the 55th National Conference. At the moment there is no one who is facing disciplinary processes,” said Mabe.

He said the new NEC would look at the matter of party members who voted with opposition in the past few days, and also look at similar cases which happened in the past.
Already NDZ supporters have raised concerns about the selective application of the rules after several ANC MPs were let off-the-hook for working with the opposition to oust former president Jacob Zuma.

Said Dlamini-Zuma on Friday: “I wish to assure you that the communication I received from the acting SG of the ANC does not affect my ability to stand. If nominated by branches of the ANC, I am still allowed stand for nomination, and I will avail myself.”
