The Afrika Mayibuye Movement (AMM), led by Floyd Shivambu, is facing fresh turmoil, with reports of 11 resignations in Limpopo.

An insider who confirmed the resignations to Inside Politics said more departures were likely.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous, said she and a few others had disclosed their dissatisfaction to the AMM leader.

Posts on social media indicate several resignation letters, which the source said were accurate.

The wave of resignations has been described as a collapse of the party’s structures in the province, which is often regarded as Shivambu’s political stronghold.

The news has sparked speculation about deepening fractures within the party, with members and observers labeling the development a “mass exodus” that could weaken AMM’s grassroots presence ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

This latest challenge adds to a string of high-profile exits that have plagued the party since late 2025.

Senior figures such as Deputy President Robert Nwedo, Deputy Secretary General Luther Lebelo, and Youth Leader Mkhanyisi Mbangata have all resigned, while Nolubabalo Mcinga was removed from her position as First Deputy President.

Shivambu has dismissed the resignations as factional manoeuvres, insisting that AMM will not be derailed by internal divisions.

He has framed the departures as part of a necessary cleansing of “incompetence”.
