The Acting National Commissioner has further directed that the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) be incorporated to ensure every possible lead is pursued and those responsible are brought to justice.

Major General Khan was scheduled to appear before the Madlanga Commission on 1 July 2026. While police acknowledge public speculation regarding the timing of the attack, they stressed that it is premature and irresponsible to draw conclusions about motive or to link the incident to his anticipated testimony.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said detectives will follow the evidence wherever it leads.

The Acting National Commissioner, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, condemned the attack, assuring the public that no resource will be spared in identifying, tracing, and arresting those responsible.
