Four current and former employees of the City of Ekurhuleni have been arrested by the Madlanga Commission’s Recommendations Task Team following a takedown operation in various parts of Johannesburg.
The suspects are expected to appear in court on Thursday morning.
The arrests are linked to the implementation of recommendations arising from the Madlanga Commission, which referred several current and former Ekurhuleni and EMPD officials for investigation after finding prima facie evidence of wrongdoing.
Those named in earlier commission-related referrals included former Ekurhuleni city manager Dr Imogen Mashazi, fleet manager Chris Steyn, head of human resources Linda Gxasheka and head of legal services Adv Kemi Behari.
According to reports, those arrested include Mashazi, Behari and Gxasheka.
SAPS said further details would be provided once the suspects had appeared in court.
This is a developing story.
