Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) senior investigator Nomsa Masuku has told the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court that controversial former police reservist and murder accused Wiandre Pretorius took his own life after a DNA report allegedly linked him to the bedroom where Emmanuel Mbense was killed.
Appearing as a witness on Tuesday, Masuku said Pretorius may have gained access to the DNA report before his death after his sample matched evidence recovered from Mbense’s home.
“That sample came back positive to Wiandre Pretorius. When he killed himself, we were informed that one of the reasons he killed himself, it’s because he had sight of the document, which is a DNA report, that was putting him in the bedroom where the deceased was,” Masuku said.
