Former radio presenter and veteran broadcaster Mr Milingoni Fhulufhelo Lloyd Nedohe has been approved by Cabinet as the new director-general of the Government Communication and Information System.
He will serve as government and Cabinet spokesperson – a position that has been vacant for over three years.
A former Metro FM and Kaya FM presenter, Nedohe’s diverse career spans over three decades across media strategy, corporate mining finance and public administration.
The government and Cabinet have not had a spokesperson since the departure of previous permanent director-general Phumla Williams, who officially retired from public service at the end of December 2022.
The position was only re-advertised in August 2026 for a permanent replacement.
Nedohe’s appointment was announced by Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni in a post-Cabinet press briefing on Tuesday.
His professional journey in the media industry began in the mid-1980s when he joined Radio Thohoyandou in Limpopo. After the station was integrated into the SABC, he had a short stint at Phalaphala FM before moving to Kaya FM, where he moved from graveyard shift to midday slot.
Nedohe served in strategic leadership positions for leading institutions and global corporations such as the Development Bank of Southern Africa, BHP Billiton and the Metropolitan Trading Company before becoming managing director and chief commercial officer at the MarcMat Group and the founding editor of ESG Frontiers, focusing on mining and energy solutions.
