NYEGE NYEGE Festival organisers have postponed this year’s event which was due this September to December 3-6, 2020.
With over 400 participating artists from across the Continent as well as afrocentric collectives from around the world, the festival has opted to take a few extra months to perfect this year’s extravaganza and deliver 2020’s finest experience in music, togetherness and cultures.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control and the desire to land you all safely to this year’s festival, we have opted to move the official dates of this historic event to December 3rd to 6th 2020, in an ultimate attempt to make 2020 great in the end… Our heartfelt apologies for raising the temperature only to announce we’ve not yet reached the boilig point. But we’re getting there.” they posted on their official social media page.
The East African Music Conference hosted by MIDEM and Nyege Nyege will nevertheless take place this week on September 3rd and 4th through a series of showcases of East African musicians and panels bringing together top East African industry players from all sectors to share insights into the East African music market.
Nyege Nyege and Midem aim to foster further professionalization of the EA market, encourage high level meetings and generate new opportunities for the industry as a whole. As all efforts are made to continue to create opportunities for the East African music sector critically affected by the pandemic. The landmark event titled “Spotlight on East Africa” will host panel discussions exploring the East African music market, business meetings, as well as an in depth conversation between Camille Storm and DJ Kampire, and 14 showcases by some of East Africa’s most promising talents, featuring performances by:
