DEPUTY Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has dismissed the application by former president Jacob Zuma to recuse himself from the State Capture Inquiry.
“The applicant has failed to meet the test for reasonable apprehension of bias. The application is dismissed,” Zondo said on Thursday.
Shortly after delivering his judgment, advocate Muzi Sikhakhane told the Zondo commission that Zuma’s legal team will excuse itself from the proceedings of the commission.
Sikhakhane said as soon as the Chairperson gives them the copy of his judgment, they will appeal and refer the matter to the Judicial Services Commission.
Zuma’s legal team said it was lodging a complaint with the Judicial Services Commission because Zondo has made himself a witness and a judge.
