STAFF REPORTER|

ANC Free State provincial executive committee (PEC) has ‘reaffirmed’ its support for the embattled governing party’s secretary general, Ace Magashule, provincial spokesperson Paseka Nompondo said in a statement.

Magashule has been under pressure to “step aside” from his position after he was charged with fraud, corruption and money laundering.

Magashule was arrested, charged and granted bail in November for his alleged involvement in the R255m Free State asbestos roofing saga.

“While we must respect the law at all times we must however be careful not to fall into a trap of disassociating on the basis of allegations not yet tested in the Court of Law, the PEC reaffirmed the conference decision to deal with any form of crime and corruption,” said Nompondo after Free State PEC meeting on Monday.

Nompondo further said that the PEC welcomed the decision of the NEC to refer guidelines on step aside
