EFF leader Julius Malema has slammed President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to take Parliament to court in order to review the findings of the Section 89 Independent Panel chaired by retired Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo.
Malema was addressing a media briefing at the EFF headquarters in the Johannesburg on Monday.
“The decision to take his own Parliament to court in order to prevent it from exercising its duty of oversight and accountablility, is a confirmation of Ramaphosa guilt and arrogance in the face of damning findings of his violation of the Constititution of SA,” said Malema .
“If Ramaphosa is truly innocent, he would not be threatened by a process to examine whether he has committed crimes on Phala Phala farm because it is this very impeachment process which will investigate the matter and exonerate him if he is innocent.”
He said Ramaphosa must also step down and make way for Deputy President David Mabuza.
“Stepping down does not mean he must not be impeached, even during the impeachment he must still be arrested he committed crimes, and he committed corruption so all that must follow,” sad Malema.
“The fact that DD is the Deputy President of this country means he meets all the requirements to be the President. Why are we being told here that DD can’t be President of South Africa? That we must go to elections to avoid DD? The reality is that DD is not captured by the Oppenheimers, the Ruperts and all of them, and because they don’t have the thinking thought of DD Mabuza, they project him as a criminal.”
He said the President of South Africa is now taking his own Parliament to Court in order to hide his crimes on Phala Phala Farm.
Ramaphosa’s lawyers have confirmed that he will challenge the panel’s report in the Constitutional Court.
Ramaphosa argues that the panel went beyond its scope when looking at whether he had a case to answer related to the robbery at the farm.
He is also asking the court to declare that any steps taken by Parliament on the back of the release of the report to be declared unlawful and invalid.
