EFF MPs Tebogo Mokwele and Nkagisang Mokgosi, who were exposed in the #CR17BankStatements leaks, have resigned from Parliament and all leadership positions in their organisation.

In a statement, Mokwele said her decision to resign follows “deep and careful introspection about the impact of my association with the President of the ANC and the Republic in which there was an exchange of money for my personal use… A total of R80000.00 between 2017 and 2019.”

She added that it was her duty to “disclose the nature of her relationship with the ANC president,” particularly as it related to money, and in not doing so admitted that she was “wrong.”

“My actions have seriously compromised the EFF, and I cannot expect to be entrusted with leadership positions anymore,” she said.

“Our revolution seeks to dismantle ANC hegemony… As a result, the ANC is our strategic enemy in the broader pursuit of our revolutionary goals,“she stated.

Mokgosi said in her statement that “non-disclosure of money, particularly from individuals in the enemy camp, is dishonourable and disingenuous.”

She added that he non-disclosure had “compromised the integrity of her organisation (EFF) and the revolution.”
