BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane said the party will contest the upcoming general elections while decrying what he described as hurdles put in place for newcomers to participate in the polls.
Maimane was speaking outside the IEC offices in Tshwane on Thursday and said while some expected the party to make an announcement that it is dropping out, it is in fact going to be contesting in every province as the party has collected 140 000 signatures.
Maimane along with other BOSA leaders and supporters officially handed over their signed signatures to the IEC on Thursday and said the party is targeting 1 million votes in the upcoming elections.
He said BOSA has deployed 1000 fulltime champions across the country who will be going into every community across the country canvassing for the party.
The next national government is going to be a coalition government as “no one is going to get 50%” , said Maimane, adding that BOSA wants to be an anchor to create a new coalition government.
Maimane said elections are not won in filling up stadiums but in door-to-door campaigns in communities.
