Deputy President Paul Mashatile will lead the second meeting of the Government of National Unity’s Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) on Thursday morning.
Mashatile’s acting spokesperson, Keith Khoza, said the agenda would outline several critical issues, including establishing a clear framework for the functionality and governance of the CHM to enhance collaborative decision-making.
The meeting would also discuss progress and strategies for the country’s upcoming leadership role at the G20, focusing on international cooperation and global challenges.
Khoza said in a statement on Wednesday that the gathering would also address concerns and updates related to the ongoing implementation and impact of the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act – specifically on two contentious clauses that deal with school admissions and language.
The members would also review the plans and initiatives to facilitate a national dialogue aimed at fostering unity and understanding among diverse communities.
Khoza said the meeting would start discussing the unique challenges faced by the GNU and coalition governments at provincial and local levels.
The first CHM meeting took place last week.
