South Africa rolled out the red carpet as President Cyril Ramaphosa hosted the G20 Leaders’ Reception Gala Dinner in honor of the Heads of State and government gathered for the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
The G20 Leaders’ Reception Gala Dinner is a formal gathering where the host country welcomes other heads of state, invited dignitaries, and international organizations.
The ceremonial welcome is a tradition of the G20 Presidency to host guests in a less formal setting to foster goodwill, strengthen diplomatic ties, and set the tone for the next series of discussions.
This was a chance for presidents, prime ministers, and invited leaders to swap policy papers for champagne flutes.
Smiles, handshakes, and the serious business of steering the global economy take a brief pause for cultural celebration.

Guests were treated to a showcase of South Africa’s rich heritage in the form of music and dance.
Leaders all mingled and posed for the iconic family photo where twenty heads of state on one stage all smiled for one single picture frame.
Here’s what happened.
