Police have arrested two men believed to be the bodyguards of murder accused Katiso KT Molefe outside the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Wednesday
The men aged 24 and 26 were found carrying two semi-automatic AKM rifles and ammunition without valid permits.
“The bodyguards are believed to have been escorting an accused person who was appearing today in court. A vehicle transporting the bodyguards was also seized after the license disk did not correspond with the registration number plates,” said Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe.
Molefe has been linked to several hits on individuals, including popular musicians DJ Somebody, whose real name was Oupa Sefoka, and Hector Buthelezi, who was known as DJ Vintos
His case has been transferred to the High Court for trial.
Molefe and three co-accused, Michael Pule Tau, Tiego Mabusela, and Musa Kekana appeared briefly in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on charges that include murder.
Molefe’s docket of charges ranges from murder, conspiracy to commit murder to possession of unlicensed firearms.
