ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule, is back in the Bloemfontein High Court to face allegations of corruption, fraud and money laundering.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said the state was ready for trial, adding that prosecuting authorities will be adding more charges against Magashule and others.

Magashule is accused of scoring between R1 million and R10 million from the failed project during his tenure as premier in the province.

Magashule was arrested last year along with 15 others in connection with the audit of asbestos houses in the Free State amounting to R255 million.

Meanwhile, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has joined those calling for Magashule to step down from his post.

Former Free State Public Works MEC Sekgopi Malebo has called on uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans (MKMVA) to respect the constitution.

Malebo has also called for tougher action against Magashule’s supporters who violate COVID-19 regulations.

He said pressure from MKMVA veterans on branches to support ANC Secretary-General was an abuse of ANC members.
