Alleged criminal kingpin and tenderpreneur Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala and his four co-accused are expected to return to the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday as pre-trial proceedings continue ahead of their attempted murder trial scheduled to begin at the end of July.

Matlala, his wife Tsakane Matlala, Musa Kekana, Tiego Floyd Mabusela and Nthabiseng Nzama face a combined 25 charges, including 11 counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, fraud, money laundering and defeating the ends of justice.
The charges stem from three separate shooting incidents allegedly carried out between August 2022 and January 2024.
Among the allegations is an alleged plot to assassinate actress, socialite and Matlala’s former partner, Tebogo Thobejane, who survived a shooting in Sandton in October 2023.
Prosecutors also allege that the accused were involved in attempted hits targeting taxi boss Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie “DJ Vettys”
