The Democratic Alliance (DA) has promised sweeping skills and financial audits at eThekwini Municipality if it takes control of the metro after the November 4 local government elections, saying any suspected corruption will be referred for criminal investigation.
DA KwaZulu-Natal leader Sithembiso Ngema made the pledge in Durban as the party unveiled candidates for all 112 wards that will be contested in the metro.
Ngema said a DA-led administration would scrutinise the municipality’s workforce and finances and pursue the recovery of ratepayers’ money found to have been unlawfully lost or misappropriated.
