Democratic Alliance (DA) leader and Cape Town mayoral candidate Geordin Hill-Lewis has warned voters against coalition instability, urging residents to give his party a renewed mandate in the 4 November local government elections.

Speaking in Blouberg, Western Cape, on Tuesday, Hill-Lewis called on Capetonians to vote for the DA, arguing that support for smaller parties could open the door for the African National Congress (ANC) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) to take control of the metro.
“The people of Cape Town should not assume that this election is already won. Do not assume that your neighbours will turn out in sufficient numbers. Do not assume that the government you want will be returned without you,” he said.
“Cape Town’s progress is on the ballot. And there is no such thing as a safe majority if the people who support it stay at home,” he added.
