HEALTH Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has warned South Africans that the fight against COVID-19 is not over yet.
South Africa moves to lockdown Alert Level 1 on Monday, with the easing of many more restrictions.
Mkhize said SA is not out of the woods yet and has urged people to comply with coronavirus regulations and safety protocols.
“We are now searching for the vaccine, but before we get the vaccine, we can’t rest. South Africans need to know that level 1 isn’t like everything is over,” said Mkhize.
“We have to make sure we take precautions. This COVID-19 can still resurge. We must not lose the message and be complacent.”
He said as of Sunday, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is 661 211, the total number of deaths is 15 953 and the total number of recoveries is 590 071.
