Maleka and Kganyago to headline 2026 Metro FM Music Awards in Durban

Metro FM has officially announced that media personalities Lawrence Maleka and Lerato Kganyago will host the 2026 Metro FM Music Awards.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, 25 April, at the Durban International Convention Centre, where South Africa’s top artists will gather to celebrate musical excellence across genres.

Voting closes on Sunday, 19 April.

Fans can expect another night of high-profile performances, following the 2025 edition, which featured standout acts including Black Motion, Langa Mavuso, K.O and Usimamane.

Last year’s awards also saw fierce competition, with Limpopo star Makhadzi walking away with the coveted Artist of the Year title.

Bassie emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, with Kwelanga 2.0 winning Best Music Video, Best Amapiano Song and Best Collaboration Song.

The 2026 edition is expected to deliver another showcase of performances, fashion and major award moments celebrating South Africa’s vibrant music scene.

The event forms part of Durban’s push to position itself as a major destination for nationally significant events, with the City of eThekwini promoting the awards as part of its tourism and events strategy.
