Pitso Mosimane will return as the head coach of Bafana Bafana after the South African Football Association (SAFA) National Executive Committee (NEC) green lit his appointment on Saturday.
The 62-year-old local fills the massive shoes left by Hugo Broos, who recently stepped down following a historic run to the knockout rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan confirmed that while administrative loose ends are still being finalized, a formal public unveiling will take place next week.
Mosimane, widely considered one of the most decorated coaches on the African continent due to his trophy-laden spells with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, returns to the national team setup looking to resolve what he has previously termed “unfinished business”.
The incoming boss will face an immediate, high-stakes test with critical 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers looming next month against Guinea and Eritrea.
