Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has appointed six people to manage the affairs of the South African Tourism until she appoints a new board.
The follows the minister dissolving the board earlier this week after she accused it of overstepping its legal framework by convening a special meeting in the absence of a chairperson, who has the sole custody and authority to sanction such a meeting.
“The… members possess collective knowledge, experience and qualifications relating to the function of the South African Tourism board,” the ministry said in a statement.
The interim members are:
- Dr Mzamo Masito (chairperson)
- Kholeka Zama (deputy chairperson)
- Dr Shakir Jeeva
- Khomotso Brian Mosehla
- Siobhan Leyden
- Dr Shamilla Chettiar (representative of the department).
