The Proteas Women booked their place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals after a four-wicket victory over Bangladesh at Lord’s in London on Sunday.
South Africa held their nerve in a tense Group A clash, chasing down Bangladesh’s 117/5 to finish on 118/6 with four balls to spare.
The victory, combined with Australia’s six-wicket win over India later on Sunday, secured the Proteas’ place in the last four as they continue their pursuit of a maiden ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, South Africa produced a disciplined performance with the ball.
Left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba led the attack with figures of 2/22 from four overs, while Marizanne Kapp delivered another economical spell of 1/9 in four overs to help restrict Bangladesh.
The run chase proved challenging as Bangladesh’s bowlers applied sustained pressure.
