President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in Brazil on Saturday to represent South Africa at the G20 Leaders’ Summit, set to take place in Rio de Janeiro under the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet” on 18–19 November.
On Sunday, Ramaphosa participated in the launch of the Leveraging the Potential of Renewables – The Road to Johannesburg Campaign.
Brazil’s G20 Presidency continues the global south rotating presidency and during its tenure prioritised social inclusion, combating hunger and poverty, sustainable development, energy transitions, and reforming global governance institutions.
On Monday, Ramaphosa will address plenary sessions focusing on hunger, poverty eradication, and institutional reform.
South Africa will assume the G20 Presidency during the summit, taking over from Brazil on 1 December 2024, under the rallying call of Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability.
