Must read

PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa has declared the date for the local government election a public holiday.

The elections will be held on Monday, 1 November 2021.

Ramaphosa asked employers to allow their workers to exercise their Constitutional right to vote.

He also called on all registered voters to use the opportunity to go out and cast their ballots, saying voting empowers citizens to elect new leaders and influence service delivery.

South Africans will only be able to cast their votes at the polling stations in the wards where they are registered.

Ramaphosa’s reminded citizens to adhere to COVID-19 regulations when voting.

“Voters are reminded as well that they will only be able to cast their votes at the polling stations in wards where they are registered. In the event that voters may consider travel, they will not be able to transfer their votes to voting stations away from their designated wards,” said Ramaphosa.
