Ramaphosa saddened by the passing of gospel icon Solly Moholo

President Cyril Ramaphosa has offered his deepest condolences to the Molokoane family, following the passing of gospel icon, Solomon Molokoane, popularly known as Solly Moholo.

Ramaphosa said his thoughts were with the Molokoane family and that his contribution to the spiritual and cultural life of the nation could never be forgotten.

“Solly Moholo provided the melodies, rhythms and words of inspiration and comfort, such as we need now, that were the soundtrack of faith, worship and community for millions of South Africans and neighbours in our region for decades,” he said.

Molokoane’s management team confirmed his passing on Thursday. He was in hospital after battling an illness that emerged during his pre-album tour in Botswana.

In August, he had started touring in Botswana to launch his upcoming album entitled “Wubani O zo Pepeza”.
