Ukhozi FM presenter Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule passes away after battling cancer

Ukhozi FM Radio presenter and Crown Gospel Music Awards founder, Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, has passed away after a long battle with lung cancer.

Her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, confirmed the 52-year old’s death in a statement, and said she died in the early hours on Monday at Parklands Hospital, surrounded by family and loved ones.

“She departed to be with the Lord. We are grateful for all the prayers, love, and support we received throughout her illness,” he said.

According to the statement, the family would appreciate privacy as they navigate through the challenging time.

In April this year, the Ukhozi FM broadcaster became ill and was unable to complete Eshilo due to vocal problems.

Her colleague Thokozani MaMkhize Ndlovu filled in for her.

Mbokazi-Nkambule hosted the station’s popular gospel show, Eshilo, every Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00.
