National Police Commemoration Day is held annually on the first Sunday in September in memory of police officers who have died in the line of duty in the last twelve months. President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver an address in honour of the country’s fallen officers. In his opening remarks, Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia said the day was one of “unbearable sadness” but also of “compassion and solidarity”.
