Outgoing Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has urged South African footballers to embrace greater professionalism both on and off the field, saying higher standards in players’ conduct are essential to improving their careers and raising the overall quality of football in the country.
“To play at a higher level, the PSL competition and the clubs need higher standards. The attitude of the players must become more professional, both inside and outside the club, for them to become even better,” Broos said.
He was speaking at a media briefing at SAFA House in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Friday, where it was confirmed that his tenure as Bafana Bafana coach had come to an end.
Broos leaves the role after five years in charge, having opted not to renew his contract. During his tenure, he guided South Africa to a bronze medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations
