South Africa’s sporting elite will battle for top honours at the 19th South African Sport Awards, with Olympic, Paralympic and international stars among the nominees.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 23 August 2026, following the nominees’ dinner on 22 August.
Tatjana Smith, Laura Wolvaardt, Alan Hatherly, Akani Simbine and Pieter-Steph du Toit headline the nominees announced ahead of the ceremony, which recognises achievements during the 2025 sporting year.
Smith, Wolvaardt and Tasneem Solomons will contest Sportswoman of the Year, while Hatherly, Simbine and du Toit are nominated for Sportsman of the Year.
The disability categories will also feature strong competition, with Kgothatso Montjane, Simoné Kruger and Minke Janse van Rensburg nominated for Sportswoman of the Year with a Disability. Mpumelelo Mhlongo, Pieter du Preez and Jean Paul Veaudry will contest the men’s equivalent category.
