POLICE MINISTER Bheki Cele says South African Police Services senior officers have been deployed in a massive manhunt for the killers of anti-gang unit section commander Lieutenant Colonel Charl Kinnear, who was shot outside his home in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, on Friday
Cele told the media outside Kinnear’s home on Saturday that he has already briefed President Cyril Ramaphosa about Kinnear’s killing.
“From here I will go back to the president and the national commissioner,” he said.
Kinnear was gunned down in front of his home shortly after 3pm on Friday afternoon, according to SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo.
The details surrounding his killing are still unknown at this stage.
Brigadier Novela Potelwa said Kinnear was found in his vehicle, shot several times in the upper body.
He was certified dead shortly thereafter
Kinnear was attached to the Western Cape Anti-Gang Unit as a section commander involved in investigations
