Cambodia has warned African nationals living in the country under a temporary immigration waiver to leave by 31 May 2026, with an immigration notice saying those who remain unlawfully from 1 June could face arrest, a two-year jail term and an $8,000 penalty.
The notice was issued by Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration under the Ministry of Interior.
“Any foreign national who enters, remains or is found in Cambodia from 1st of June 2026 will be arrested at the airport or at any location and shall serve term of 2 years, and a penalty of $8000 before being allowed to leave Cambodia,” the notice said.
The notice further said foreign nationals whose immigration fines had already been cleared were also required to leave Cambodia on or before 31 May 2026.
It said Cambodian authorities would take a zero-tolerance approach to immigration violations and urged those affected to comply with the deadline.
