South Africa now has 618 286 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Thursday.
This is an increase of 2 585 new infections.
There were 126 more deaths recorded, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 13 628.
According to data released by the Department of Health, 531 338 recoveries have been recorded to date.
In total, 3 617 982 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.
“As of today, a cumulative total of 618 286 confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded, with 2 585 new cases identified,” said Mkhize.
“Regrettably, we report 126 more COVID-19 related deaths, 48 from KwaZulu-Natal, 33 from Gauteng, 25 from the Eastern Cape and 20 from the Western Cape,” he said.
