Bafana Bafana wrote a golden new chapter in South African football history in the early hours of Thursday morning, beating South Korea 1-0 in Monterrey to qualify for the FIFA World Cup knockout stages for the first time.
Hugo Broos’ men produced a disciplined and determined performance to secure a deserved victory and book their place in the Round of 32.

The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute when Thapelo Maseko — who was named man of the match — found the bottom corner, sending South African fans into wild celebrations and sealing one of the most significant victories in the country’s football history.
The match saw Bafana Bafana rise to the occasion against a highly rated South Korean side who had arrived with serious hopes of reaching the next round.
The win moved South Africa onto four points in Group A, enough to finish second
