Lead State Capture investigator Frank Dutton dies, allegedly of a heart attack, aged 72

THE lead investigator in the State Capture Commission Frank Dutton died on Wednesday at the age of 72 after a long illness.

According to media reports, Dutton suffered a stroke, followed by a heart attack.

Dutton’s affidavit at the Zondo commission implicated over 38 people in wrongdoing.

Dutton’s affidavit also revealed that former SAA board chair Dudu Myeni had allegedly shared confidential National Prosecuting Authority documents with former Bosasa chief executive Gavin Watson and Angelo Agrizzi at a 2015 meeting at the Sheraton Hotel in Pretoria.

Dutton, a well-known police officer, was born in Bela Bela in Limpopo in 1949, and went on to have a decorated career as a police officer in the SAPS and was renowned for exposing truths about the political violence that ravaged KwaZulu-Natal in the 1980s.
