EFF leader Julius Malema has made bold and tall promises during his party’s spirited rally in Ekurhuleni ahead of Monday’s 2021 local government elections, saying South Africa’s only left-leaning, Marxist-Lenist-Fanonian movement was ready to oust the ANC from power.

“We are burning the snake that is the ANC on the 1st of November 2021,” said Malema at the colourful election rally held in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg.

He said now more than ever before, there is incontrovertible evidence that the ruling party was incapable of fulfilling its electoral promises to the voters since coming to power in 1994.

“They promised to increase the R350 they give you but they never did. They finished 500 billion in six months,” said Malema, adding that corruption under the ANC has ruined the nation.

“Let us not listen to the lies of the ruling parties because all they are saying now was promised to you in 1994, in 1995, in 1999, in 2004, in 2009 and in 2019,” said Malema.

“Let us not be bought by food parcels of the ruling parties because food parcels will not last forever.”

Criticising the ANC for ignoring the plight of the poor, Malema said the governing party had no will to work for the people of South Africa.

He also trained guns at ANC’s head of elections, Fikile Mbalula, saying he has failed to ensure there was service delivery to the people of Free State, his home province, where there are currently sewage spillages everywhere.

Malema promised to deliver flushing toilets, electricity and water to the people of South Africa at all municipalities under an EFF administration.

Malema said the party would discontinue private ownership of bulk water infrastructure, and provide access to clean water to every household, factory, farm, school and public infrastructure facility.

He also said the party will develop an individual land-reform plan, outlining municipal-based land reform targets, in every municipality it governs.

In the run-up to the elections, Malema has reiterated that the EFF municipalities will connect each house to the sewage system, adding that municipalities will ensure that all schools have flushing toilets.

The EFF leader also promised to take the party’s fight for free electricity for the poor to the Constitutional Court, should Eskom refuse to provide it in its municipalities.

“Let the dignity of our people be restored. Let us not play politics with the lives of our people,” he said.

“You are not animals in the eyes of the EFF. We will give you inside flushing toilets.”

He added that the EFF would never build outside toilets for South Africa people.

“It is not the apartheid government that is building our people outside toilets but the ANC. The EFF will build our people inside flushing toilets,” he said.

“The RDP the ruling is giving you are not houses but glorified mikhukhu. The real houses will be given to you by the EFF. Houses that will give our people dignity.”

He also appealed to all South African black professionals to support the EFF at the polls.

“The EFF is home to all academics, doctors, lawyers and accountants. We like them educated,” said Malema.
