PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa has joined scores who wished Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, a speedy recovery.
Zwelithini is admitted in hospital and receiving medical care for high glucose levels, according to the royal family.
“I wish to convey my wishes for the speedy recovery of His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu,” said Ramaphosa during his state of the nation address on Thursday night.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Household and the Zulu nation at this time. It is our collective wish that Isilo Samabandla Wonke is soon restored to good health.”
Earlier on Thursday, Prince Buthelezi released regarding his health following several false rumours about his death.
The statement added that the rumours about his health have inflicted tremendous pain on the royal family.
“The [Zwelithini] has had to return to hospital to stabilise his glucose levels once again. His doctors have felt it necessary to place him in ICU to deal with this thoroughly,” said Buthelezi.
“I therefore wish to assure the nation that His Majesty is receiving the necessary care for his diabetes, as he has always done. As always, the minister of health is aware of these arrangements.”
