PRESIDENT Cyril Ramaphosa is set to appear before the ANC’s Integrity Commission following a criminal complaint laid against him by former spy boss Arthur Fraser.
This comes after the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting on Monday where ANC veteran Tony Yengeni led calls on him to step aside and allow an acting president to take over.
Yengeni, one Ramaphosa’s fericest critics in teh governing party, also suggested the president appear before the integrity commission.
In a statement, the ANC NWC said it welcomed and commended the President’s decision to voluntarily appear before the commission.
The party “commended the decision by the President to voluntarily present himself to the ANC Integrity Commission in line with ANC policy,” national spokesman, Pule Mabe, said in a statement.
Fraser, the former State Security Agency Director-General, laid a complaint of money laundering, kidnapping and corruption against Ramaphosa last week.
Fraser alleges that there was theft of $4-million at the head of state’s Phala Phala farm in 2020.
