THE SA Communist Party has welcomed the outcomes of the ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting this weekend, saying office bearers and public representatives charged with corruption must step aside and be suspended pending the outcome of their court cases.
The party said it is firmly behind the ANC and called upon all members in the tripartite alliance to rally behind the ANC and its President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“The steps taken by the ANC will contribute by no small measure will show leadership by example, to the national imperative to fight corruption. This will dissuade those who may be tempted, against getting involved or complicit in corruption,” the party said in a statement.
“To support the ANC, the SACP will continue its discipline to do the same, to take the same action against any member of the Party who may be charged with corruption or serious crime in a court of law.”
The NEC on Monday instructed suspended Secretary-General of the ANC Ace Magashule to make a public apology for issuing a bogus suspension letter to party President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The party also reaffirmed its commitment to see the step-aside resolution through.
