The price of petrol will go up by 25 cents a litre for petrol and between 20 and 21 cents a litre for diesel from Wednesday.
The Mineral and Energy Resources Department said on Monday the main reasons for the adjustments were crude oil prices, international petroleum prices, the Rand/Dollar exchange and implementation of the state levy.
The average Brent Crude oil price increased from $72.82 to $75.07 per barrel, during the period under review. The main contributing factor was the continued conflict in the Middle East and the stand-off between Iran and Israel.
The Rand slightly appreciated on average, against the US Dollar (from 17.68 to 17.53 Rand per USD). This led to lower contributions to the Basic Fuel Prices of all products by over 8 cents.
This will push the price of 95 Unleaded up to around R20.50 at the coast and R21.30 in the inland regions, where 93 Unleaded is expected to hit R20.87.
