POLICE detectives have launched a manhunt for the killers of Station Commander of Groblersdal, Colonel Lebyane Jeffrey Seroka, aged 57.
According to Brigadier Motlafela Mojapeo, Seroka was shot and killed by an unknown killers in front of his house at about 04h30 on Saturday morning.
Mojapelo said preliminary police investigations show that Seroka left his home early to attend a funeral when he was gunned down in front of his gate.
“As he walked out of his house he was shot dead in front of his gate,” Mojapelo said.
“We are currently investigating all possibilities.”
The motive for his killing is not known and police are still investigating.
He said suspect or suspects took the Station Commander’s motor vehicle and fled from the scene.
“The suspects took the member’s motor vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux, and fled from the scene,” he said.
The vehicle was later found abandoned along the Denilton-Maklerekeng road.
“The motive for this killing is unknown at this stage but police investigations are continuing. A team of investigators has already been assembled to hunt down the killer(s),” he added.
“The police Dennilton have opened a case of murder after the station commander of Groblersdal was gunned down by unknown suspects in front of his gate. The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant-General Nneke Ledwaba, has instructed that the killers be hunted down and brought to book.”
