President Cyril Ramaphosa is pleased with Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s recovery following a minor surgical procedure, the Presidency has said.
“The President visited the Deputy President this afternoon and was assured that his Deputy will soon be back at work,” the Presidency said.
The Presidency did not disclose when or where the procedure was performed, the medical condition involved or further details about the nature of the surgery.
No further update on Mashatile’s condition had been published by the Presidency by Wednesday morning.
Mashatile previously suffered a public health scare when he collapsed while delivering an address at the N’wamitwa Day celebrations in Tzaneen, Limpopo, on 14 September 2024.
Limpopo Premier Phophi Ramathuba said at the time that Mashatile was not in danger and had struggled with the heat towards the end of his speech.
