SOUTH Africa’s headline consumer price inflation quickened slightly to 5.0% year on year in September from 4.9% in August, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Wednesday.
On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index was at 0.2% in September from 0.4 % the previous month.
Core inflation, which excludes prices of food, non-alcoholic beverages, fuel and energy, edged up to 3.2% year on year in September from 3.1% previously.
On a month-on-month basis core inflation was at 0.3%, the same as in August.
